The Situative Leadership model utilizes this very fact – because the different development levels of employees are the most relevant situational factor. A leader who is able to adjust his or leadership style to the experience level of the employee will prove to be effective in many situations.

Situative Leadership is used by leaders to achieve higher performance from employees and better results for the organization.

Its structure allows employees to be more and more able to provide their own direction and support. It is a strategy for empowering people by releasing their energy, passion, talent, creativity and self reliance to achieve the goals. A major purpose of Situative Leadership is to increase the quality of communication about performance and development. Leaders realize that there is no best leadership style and become aware of the importance of flexibility and adaptability in developing people. The role of leaders is to challenge people they work with to become increasingly self- motivated and self-directed. They do this by providing them the specific help they need. On the other hand, people perceive their leaders as being receptive and interested in their growth and development.
